calling all enablers...
Apr. 7th, 2005 05:20 pmit figures that LJ ate the first attempt at this post.
Here's the deal. I failed to write and post two things that should have been written and posted last week. My boss was mildly annoyed. I said I'd try and get them done this week. Other things have intervened, however. Meant to write them Wednesday -- nope. Meant to write them today -- nope. Realistically, there is no way they're getting posted tomorrow even if I stay late to write them tonight. Fuck. I hate this. I have too many little bitty things to do and no way to assign priorities.
Can I just go home?

Date: 2005-04-07 09:32 pm (UTC)Seriously, as mom told me when I went home in a huff at lunch over all the little shit that was intervening with the big project: diarize the interuptions. When boss asks you to do something instead of big project, say "of course" but this means big project won't be done on time. Then, when you get approached about failure to complete big project on time, pull out diary of all the interruptions, and they can't say much.
Also, getting the stuff WRITTEN, if not posted, will make you feel better!!

*hugs ELL*
I say shoot for finishing one for tomorrow and then the other for Monday. and if the boss doesn't like it ask him what needs to get done first or kick him in the balls. or both! 8)

Date: 2005-04-07 10:01 pm (UTC)dude, I am still so here at work and probably will be here for another hour or so. I will keep you company but I'd rather you got out of the mess. *hugs you again*

sure. I have no problem pointing out to folks when they are being unreasonable, then I give them an actual workable timeframe. I did it to our managing director once. actual told him no to his face. most folks don't so his face was priceless. *bg* So yeah, explain and if that doesn't work then explain again and eventually he'll get it or if not he'll be stupid and then we can voodoo him. *bg*

Date: 2005-04-07 11:23 pm (UTC)I am still at work, but instead of working I spent the last *checks* hour and a half talking with colleagues about how stressed we are and the evils of the pharmaceutical industry and corporations in general and I feel MUCH better.
So nothing written, but I'm going home now. :D
