It's been a week of house stuff. Home Show on Tuesday, Reno-forum on Wednesday, 2nd visit (well, 4th for Jen) last night. Making progress. We're starting to settle on stuff:
- This is who we're getting to refinish the bathtub. I had a nice chat with the guy at the Home Show. It's not on their site, but the flyer he gave us has a Compleat History of the Bathroom in the Greater Toronto Area. These people know bathtubs. They love bathtubs. For the Compleat History alone, that's who I'm going with.
- Dealing with contractors and tradespeople fills me with trepidation, but J has no problem with it. Conversely, dealing with permits and inspections makes her feel guilty and anxious, but I see it as a big game or puzzle (and I work two blocks from City Hall). We thus have our division of labour neatly sorted.
- I think I've figured out what to do with my kitchen, more or less. Still not sure where to put my desk; I thought it would fit into the third floor but that room is now starting to look more like a dressing room. Still, I might be able to carve out a corner.
- The third floor walls desperately need help. So does the entire front porch.
- We've applied for insurance and should have no problem. Mortgage will follow. Legal stuff is underway although I still have some questions.
Getting kind of excited.

Date: 2005-04-15 02:31 pm (UTC)I'm so jealous of you... A lot of hassle, granted, and monetary considerations adding extra weight, but dude. You have house. Whooo! Good luck with everything, hon.

Date: 2005-04-15 03:26 pm (UTC)That sounds so princessy... at the MOMENT, though, it's crumbling plaster and bare lath with wool insulation poking through. You know, if that makes you feel sympathetic or anything.
