I am going to a mentoring evening at my old high school. (Background: I went to a private girls' school, following my mother and grandmother. My mother loved it, my grandmother hated it. I still can't wear the uniform colours in combination, but otherwise I have mostly fond memories of the place.)

I'm pretty sure I filled out a mentoring form already, but now can't remember if I asked to be just a mentor or also a mentee.

I don't really know what to expect. I'm hoping there will be at least a couple of people I know there. I've lost touch with a lot of people from high school (nearly all, in fact). It's possible this qualifies me for the title of Worst Class Rep in History. I'd blame my meltdown in fourth year university for not wanting to show my face, but actually I was pretty bad before then. (And am now. I want to be a better communicator, dammit. Well, one step at a time.)

Regardless, I am (however cautiously and nervously) looking forward to it, and to seeing the school (they keep sending me glossy updates on what they've been doing to the place).

It amuses me that they make such efforts to keep in touch, while McGill has never sent me so much as an alumni magazine. (They send one to my dad, and he didn't even graduate! Hmph.) I do realize it's all a ploy to separate me from my nonexistent cash, but it's kind of nice.
