Belated Happy Birthday to
gurudata!
Weekend was good. I got stuff done for a change, which makes me feel more in control and less panicky and avoidy. (I know, who'd'a thunk it?) To wit:
Did not do anything for Mother's Day, since my mother was out of town (and we don't believe in it anyway). Did talk to my parents by phone when they got back.
Weekend was good. I got stuff done for a change, which makes me feel more in control and less panicky and avoidy. (I know, who'd'a thunk it?) To wit:
- Went to the gym
- Made a pilgrimage to Queen West with
crankygrrl and bought:- work boots at the Australian Boot Company -- brown steel-toed Blundstones, to be precise. Not the CSA ones with the steel shank, which my feet didn't like at all, but the Australian ones. They are purty, and they were on sale, so there you go. I will try to avoid stepping on any nails.
- East, by Edith Pattou
- Tehanu, by Ursula K. Le Guin (both at Bakka's new location, hurray)
- Theoden (not in armour) at the Snail -- he has something weird the matter with his hair, but I'm not bothered
- Thelma and Louise
- Pirates of the Caribbean (there was some mutual enabling -- Cranky wanted to know if there wasn't something, anything, that I wanted in the 2 for $30 section, and I said well, yes, and somehow there we were)
- Went to the house and admired the wide open spaces and the yards of lath where the plaster's been ripped off (also took pictures) -- sadly the dumpster wasn't there, but the big
chutesnout through which dead plaster makes its way from the third floor to the first was, so I got pictures - Met J for coffee and discussed decorating -- so far this is merely a distant mirage, but it gives us hope in the long parched desert that is renovation
- Mostly tidied up the pit of hell that is my living room
- Got rid of the pile of incoming mail by the front door
- Wrote a letter to S in Ottawa in reply to hers, which I haven't actually found yet
- Alphabetized my CDs (when I moved in I put them in the CD stand any old how in the mistaken belief that I was going to get a new one any day now; this still hasn't happened, so I decided enough was enough)
- As a result, listened to a lot of CDs I haven't heard in a while
- Cleaned the scary dead food out of the fridge, and took it down to the garbage
- Did a lot of dishes
- Bought groceries -- admittedly not very many, but I did get a bag of apples, so at least I'll have fruit in the house
- Made a long list of Things I Will Need Homes For In My New Place, which was good, and tried to figure out the layout of my new living room without marked success, which was less good
- Read Teckla and East
Did not do anything for Mother's Day, since my mother was out of town (and we don't believe in it anyway). Did talk to my parents by phone when they got back.

Date: 2005-05-10 11:11 am (UTC)Oh yeah, while I'm thinking about the subject... if it isn't too impertent, why do you want a secondary hallway between the front room and the middle room? I was thinking that you wanted to make a big walk through closet or sink a nice big bookshelf in the nook of the closet and wanted to be able to get at it from both sides?
