So I am the easiest person to surprise in the entire world, which is kind of nice, because my colleagues just surprised me with birthday cake and a card. (It was going to be yesterday but they held off because of Grannyness, but that's cool OK, because it means my birthday lasts longer this way.)

I am 100,000 in binary, or 20 in hexadecimal. And [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl is wrong, that joke does not get old.

Met some of my nearest and dearest for drinks and food last night -- nice low-key last-minute birthday celebration. Fitzie's lounge was all decorated with cobwebs and gravestones and whatnot, but not very crowded, which was cool. Cranky gave me a wee pair of binoculars and a field guide to the birds of Canada AND a quick-spotter birds of Ontario card, and was quite taken aback by how thrilled I was, but it's a cool really exciting gift! At least, I think so. (She has been threatening/promising it for at least 6 months now -- see "easily surprised", above.)

And there were de-stress gifts: [livejournal.com profile] stilldeepwater gave me Felix & Norton cookies -- soooo good -- and a manicure or pedicure (TBD). Jen gave me a bottle of single malt and a hot water bottle and a bandana (for protection from drywall dust -- my hair was FILTHY last weekend). I am extremely well taken care of. An excellent birthday.

Next year in my house.

[Edited. I apologize for using "cool", and especially for using it 3 freakin' times. That's just unacceptable.]

I didn't even know it was your birthday.

Have a happy one, nonetheless! :D

Thank you very much!

Next year there will be no ill-timed attacks of modesty and I will shout my birthday from the rooftops, I promise. ;)

Thanks for inviting me. I wish I could have been there, but I had the all important "giving out the candy" to attend to. As I was the only one left in my household who wasn't either at work, or still moving my parents, I felt it important to hold the fort!

I understand! and you were not the only one!

you are welcome at Housewarming Part 1 this Saturday, BTW (if you dare), but as I say, waiting for Part 2 might be the better part of valour. ;) Let me know!

Alas, I have plans that take me elsewhere on Saturday. However, if there is notice for Part Deux, I will put you in my calendar! :)

Good thought. Part Deux will feature Absolutely Everyone We Know and may well be more fun! Plus, artificial lighting that's not a work light! And a bathroom with a door! Part Deux is kind of where it's at.
