hey, I was away, OK?

Yesterday for lunch, Dan, John and I went to Scratch Danial's. Today, John and I were in Barrie.*

Yesterday Dan and John worked on vapour barrier, and plastic plumbing. David and Dan did same today. They also did the pressure test--and it looks like it works!

John paid $50 to the next-door roofers to patch the vent pipe above Robin's bathroom. Roofers say the next door might be going to sell her house. John taught Dan how to do a McKnight park.**

Monday was Granny's memorial service/celebration/whatsit. Great party -- they put photos of her at various stages in her life around the room (sadly, none of her skating or playing tennis available -- most odd) and my mum did a fantastic job with the eulogy. And tons of people came out and we reminisced like mad and drank rum and soda.

Oh I'm such a dickhead. That why you were in Vegas? I'm so, so, so very sorry about earlier comment babe. Hope you're okay. *massive hugs*

not a dickhead at all! *hugs you back* Memorial thingie was in Toronto on Monday -- we took the red-eye back Sunday night, and then I slept most of Monday and got to the memorial in the afternoon. It all worked out very well. I felt a TAD insensitive going off on vacation at a time of mourning, but we'd planned it for ages and, well, there you go. So that is the tale.

Not insensitive, sensible. Probably took your mind off things for a bit, and that's the main thing.

Now. Because you mention it and I've been meaning to ask someone for ages: What's "the red-eye"? I've read it before and I can only assume it's some over-night transport ...

Yep. Usually a flight, leaving in the evening and arriving in the morning.

For some reason I've never applied it to transatlantic flights; it has more of a commuter connotation in my head, although that may be just me.

Update: Until this very minute, when I did a search, I was under the impression that this song (http://www.guntheranderson.com/v/data/radarlov.htm) was called "Red-Eye Love". But it seems I was wrong.

LOL, that's brilliant. I used to think that the chorus of a well-known song went "My angel is the cellphone". Goes to show I never read kinky mags enough. I wouldn't even have known what a centerfold was ...

However, this gives me the opportunity to pimp one of my favourite sites once again: www.kissthisguy.com! And lookie that! Looks like you weren't the only one: View by Song and find Radar Love. The very first entry lists "I used to think it was red eye love" :-)

I love the world.

is it sad that I have a detailed knowledge of vapor barriers and thus knew exactly what she was talking about? I could build a house myself, I tell you what.

and so you should build a house! Though I daresay you should make sure the vapor barriers are done chez cbbro before you say this TOO loudly ;).

we welcome volunteers! and it's only sad if it's sad for me. Anyway, you work in insurance, so even if it's sad for me maybe it isn't sad for you, because isn't that one of those insurancy things?

and I agree, you should totally build a house! If you can't stand your job any more, we don't pay a whole lot but you do get free lunch!

sounds like a wonderful celebration of her life and your family. the gathering after my fathers memorial service was one of the best parties, we told great stories about him and he felt very present that whole day. er, hopefully that makes sense.

*hugs* and best wishes.

that makes a lot of sense, and is the best kind of memorial, I think!

my cousin Daniel brought 4 jars of the last batch of marmalade he and Granny made -- I didn't even know this was a habit with them.

*hugs* and thank you!

oh the marmalade is more than wonderful. and by sharing it it's as if he's shared that layer of joy about their relationship with you all. *more hugs*
