My aunt is back! She says:

Today for lunch we had steak and kidney pie and Caesar salad.

Monday, Dan and Dennis did plumbing while John and I swanned around on the train back from Montreal.

The inspector came on Tuesday, and approved all (including plumbing). . . except for:
- foam insulation on party wall has to have a channel in it with dry insulation because of fire protection. Noble Gill took most of it out yesterday.
- little plastic condoms on some light fixtures have to be replaced with new ones
- a separate vent is required for the 3rd floor sink
- need a pvc box somewhere for the second floor kitchen.

The good news on ducts is that John got a very reasonable quote. The bad news is that a mechanical permit is required. Robin is taking care of it.

Gill and Stuart were working today on the doors and windows on the third floor and freezing.

Cheers to all, Helen
For the sake of completeness, here's the weekend house report that Jen did:

On Saturday, Dan installed light thingies in Robin’s kitchen and did something fun with insulation. Robin & Gill put in vapour barrier in the second floor middle room, while Jen made yet another trip to Rona, and started on the wood trim.

On Sunday, Robin started vapour-barrierering Jen’s bedroom and Mike & Jen moved some stuff around in the back yard and explored the scope of the trim project. Tilde was at the House on Sunday but was not fond of the air compressor.

Today, Dan is going to fill the pipes up with water again in preparation for Mr. Elksnitis’s visit on Tuesday.

I've started doing vapour barrier in my head while I try to fall asleep. It doesn't help. Have I mentioned?

Hey, YOU are the one who wanted to be the much vaunted "home owner" ;)
And no, you hadn't mentionned.... That, that is ;).

Seriously, you've handled this all admirably and soon, you will have a house! That you can actually LIVE in. And you'll have a step-dog, too! Yay!

My mother adds:

Lovely pie and salad - many thanks!

Unfortunately I did not manage to do more than one-eighth of the channel! - will persevere.

Dan helped us with the 3rd floor window and all was going splendidly until neither Stuart nor I noticed that S. was cutting the wrong side of one end of the window sill. The air became blue! Luckily we had to leave soon afterwards to get S. to a meeting and I have since bought another piece of wood, so we will try again tomorrow (unless it's snowing). At least the window is in place (temporarily) and looks very nice - BIG panes.

Cheers,

Gill
