House update: Monday
Dec. 19th, 2005 05:31 pmMy aunt reports:
For those who like minutiae, the house appears to have been holding steady at about 8.4°C -- not bad for a single heater in the basement.
Jen and I did our work on Sunday. Saturday involved family brunch at my great-aunt's, much explaining that no, we are not living in the house yet, and more sorting of Granny's stuff. Seriously, how did I end up with half the furniture? I mean, 11 chairs plus a (small) sofa -- that seems like a lot, and that's just the things to sit on.
Ah well.
Today for lunch David and I had Chinese surprise: 5-spice pork, fried rice, dumplings and salad.*I put foam rubber sweaters on some of the pipes in the basement, and managed to make a small leak into a somewhat bigger leak. WITH MY BARE HANDS.
Stuart met with Bill the Drywall, and then they came over to the house and Bill didn't seem to see any problems.
The tinbasher is coming over tomorrow for a preliminary look
David trimmed foam insulation. I made some rude remarks about the foam, but David said it will probably result in a more R-efficient house.
On the weekend, Jen stripped paint and Robin did--I haven't checked.*
John is sick. So sick that he didn't want lunch, which, for John, is very sick indeed. However, he intends to recover in the near future.
Love all, Helen
