I tend to assemble it in a fairly random fashion. Some people I have actually met, some of those I know better than others. Some people I have met online, elsewhere. Some friended me first. Some I found through the Random function, back when that worked, or through common interests. Some posted on communities I watch and/or am part of. Some are friends of friends (or rather Friends of Friends). I think I even ran into one or two via LJ Drama.

In all cases, they tend to be familiar with the standard rules of English usage, grammar and punctuation (not, goodness knows, that I'm a stickler for those, but it hurts when EVERY post has random numerals in it) and have something interesting to say.

All this to say, if you're wondering how you arrived on my Friends list, one of those methods is probably it. I mention this because some of you friend me back, and I'd hate to feel this was done under (my) false pretenses. Hi. Welcome.

Probably time to face the day, huh? Library books. Ulp.

Did I mention I found a library book left over from September in my briefcase? The library's obviously forgotten all about it too. (Sailing to Sarantium... which I still haven't read.) This will tell you how often I use my briefcase.

I'm thinking full disclosure is my best bet, but oh dear... hopefully can talk my way out of terrible fines... d'you think they'll charge me more than the cost of the book? It's not like they called me to look for it or anything.

usually libraries have a ceiling on late fines (per item). ours is $10, for example. so you should be ok.

My guess, too, is that there will be a cap on the fine. But SINCE it has already been this long, you MAY want to read it. Sailing (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/item.asp?Catalog=Books&Section=Books&Cat=&Lang=en&Item=978067088093&mscssid=SRLBTU6L9RHU8HCMWV4S1D8FB3WS3RL1&WSID=1303228537F189064295B5E2DEF8D62A64CD3215) isn't, in my opinion, as strong as Kay's other novels, BUT, it IS the prequel to Lord of Emperors (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/item.asp?Catalog=books&Section=books&Cat=&Lang=en&Item=978067088092&mscssid=SRLBTU6L9RHU8HCMWV4S1D8FB3WS3RL1&WSID=1303228537F189064295B5E2DEF8D62A64CD3215) which was GREAT. That said, Heidi has copies of both. And you WILL be seeing her, so I am sure you could convince her to loan them to you. ;).

Also: briefcase, schmiefcase. Who needs 'em. ;)

Oh, Lambie photos taken - enroute later today!

thanks, you were quite right -- $5 in this case, since it was a paperback.

Of course with the other 4 books that were a week late it was STILL a hefty chunk of change. I have got to stop doing that...

My solution: just buy the books :D. It can, in fact, be cheaper if you continue to rack up library fines. And don't you use a private library, which means an annual fee? Plus then you have the books. Which will mean that you need to move into a bigger apartment, because you will run out of space.... And the move will be costly because books are heavy and a pain to move. Friends and family require more beer, in my experience, if you are to convince them to move large quantities of books. And the new place will need reinforced floors. And the rent will be higher. Hmmm. On 2nd thought, maybe not such a good idea.

New lamb this morning: biggest yet: 7.25 kilos. Photos to follow soonish.
