My aunt reports:
The guy at Cook's Paint was wonderfully helpful, and it's lucky we went fairly early in the morning -- less crowded, and also my hangover didn't have a chance to kick in. My paint samples also went much better than Jen's. (Jen painted sample paint onto pieces of bristol board and we stuck them up all over.) I am happy with Pot Pourri Green in my kitchen, Mill Springs Blue in my living room, and Windham Cream in my bedroom and hall and stairwells. I'm still pondering Rhubarb for the dining room. Or I might go more orangey. (All colours Benjamin Moore -- I'd point you towards online samples but their colour viewer is a pain in the butt.)
China Blue was a total bust for the bathroom. Very institutional. I think I need something more turquoise. It's got to go with the goldfish on my shower curtain.
Jen is trying to match her couch, and having a difficult time -- I think she likes harder colours than I do. But she went out again today and seems to have had more luck -- we'll see when we tape the large-size paint chips up. I took her another big book o' home decor, which may or may not have been helpful.
Today, drank a lot of coffee, bought a book that I swear I used to own, got a parking ticket, failed to get into a play at the Tarragon. Ah well.
Today for lunch, John, Robin, Jen, Mike, David, Dan and I had frittata, croissants and blood oranges, with an apple and Stilton side offering.
David and Dan drywalled in the middle room, second floor. Yesterday, William was mudding and taping the second floor kitchen.
Jen and Robin bought paint samples. Robin prepared to prime. (We contributed leftover primer used on our greenboard in kitchen renovation (see below)).
John bought a new tool, an impact drill, with many, many bits (so cheap he couldn't afford not to buy it). It will be useful just in case Denis or Ken want their own impact drills back.
Re our renovation: John is working in kitchen as I type. This morning I temporarily forgot that the dishwasher, which John has nobly had hooked up for the duration, isn't anchored. It fell over on its face as I finished loading. Jen helped upright it and cleared up glass. Minimal damage: three wine glasses worth, retail, about 56 cents each. William Ashley is right. Bone china, even cheap bone china, doesn't break. Neither did the cheap crystal. John later admitted that when he heard the crash he hid.
Cheers all, Helen

Someone at Benjamin Moore is having far too much fun with colour names.
