Last night I ushed for and saw Escape from Happiness at the Factory Theatre (don't think I'd ever been there before). Good deal -- if you volunteer for them they let you see the show for free. Took a little while to adjust to the theatricality of it; if you like your drama very naturalistic this is not the play for you. A lot of the rhythms were very reminiscent of This is Wonderland (George F. Walker, go figure), so if you like TiW you'll probably enjoy this. The whole cast was excellent. Catherine Fitch was in it; from her bio I learned there's going to be a third season of Slings and Arrows (she plays Maria, possibly my favourite character in the entire series, although it's hard to say), which I don't think I knew before. Yay!

I think I ushed fairly competently (except for the don't-let-people-back-in-once-they've-left bit, but they guy was very stealthy so I HOPE it wasn't too bad). It was backpacker night and they were a bit concerned the backpackers would be rowdy, but they were very well behaved.

Don't Look Down, by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer, is now in stores. It is, I can assure you, fine fun. Not my favourite Crusie ever (that would have to be Bet Me) but well up there in the running. More plot and lots more weaponry than usual. Plus! Alligators and Wonder Woman! If you like romantic adventure you ought to give it a try. The Smart Bitches enjoyed it too.
