House update: Wednesday
May. 3rd, 2006 03:33 pmMy aunt reports:
ME: "So, how's it going?"
HER: "I'm fed up with being pregnant! This can end any time now!"
ME: (thinks: well, that settles that, anyway) "When are you due?"
HER: "Two weeks."
Can only assume I haven't been buying enough coffee, because... she's eight and a half months pregnant and I didn't notice? WTF? My only consolation is that my officemates were also taken aback to learn this.
Today for lunch, Rejane W (a friend and financial writer), Dan, David, John, Mike and I had crab quiche and salad. In unrelated news, I am the most unobservant person in the world. I just went downstairs to the coffee shop; the woman with whom I usually chat when I buy coffee was working, I asked her for a mocha, and as she went to go make it I thought "Hey, she looks pregnant!" Didn't want to ask right out, so when she came back it went something like this:
Dan and Dave finished the drywall in the foyer. Also started, and will work on, cleaning junk out of the first floor in preparation for Ed the floor, who called early today sounding incredibly chipper and will be in tomorrow.
William did an impressive job on Robin's pass-through, with a large chunk of poplar. He is working on doorways and window stools.
John yesterday did a dump run, and today made a duct hood in Jen's bathroom.
Tomorrow, with Ed in, John, Dan and Dave will go up to the cottage to put in the docks because there does not seem to be another window of opportunity. (Rejane was quite amazed at how we have managed to find and employ (often for free or at very little cost) help all these years.)
Cheers all, Helen
