House update: Thursday
May. 25th, 2006 02:27 pmMy aunt reports:
Today for lunch, Stuart, Dan, David, John and I had fajitas. Gill joined us late, and brought her own sandwich. And Jen adds:
Stuart is finishing Robin's bookcase. John patched the hole in Robin's third floor wall.
John talked to Ed the floor and has postponed the final varnishing because of the moving-a-whole-lot-of-stuff problem. He will talk to Ed about coming in soon to do the third floor because Robin's things are coming out of storage.
Cheers, Helen
And Mike sanded my bedroom and living room last night - Dad and I cleaned.Jen is also a tad frustrated by lack of apparent progress. However, ever the optimist, she's drawn up a list of stuff we need to get done this weekend.
I also think it makes sense to push on with pre-painting things and then have a big blitz of actual colour. It just seems that we're risking flocked walls if we paint in one room while there's major carpentry in another!
I made a list to calm my mind, so I will share:
- install the appliances in your kitchen
- install the rest of the cabinets in your kitchen
- sand & prime the hole in the 3rd floor wall (after William has repaired it)
- finish painting the 3rd floor
- finish priming the second floor (I've bought into William's theories on 2nd coats of primer)
- wash the party wall & the brick wall of my bedroom with TCP, then prime
- sand, wash & prime the first floor
I think we should be able to accomplish most of these things (say five out of seven) by the end of the weekend, don't you?
