House update: Tuesday
Jun. 20th, 2006 03:51 pmHm. It's been an eventful day so far! My aunt reports:
I have made a List of everything (I hope) that remains to be done on the House. I will not dignify it with the name of Plan, although it does have priorities listed: A for stuff that has to be done before I can move in, B for stuff that should be done shortly after I move in, C for stuff that can be done whenever. They may change. Most of the A priorities appear to hinge on light fixtures and paint for the bathroom, so Jen and I are making a run to Rona this evening.
Today for lunch, Carol, Ken, John and I had ham and cheese sandwiches, courtesy of Ken and Carol.*Damn, we should have kept them. I only gave them two containers! We could have scored a whole new set of home furnishings!
Ken and Carol came to the House today, in the morning. Which turns out to be a Good Thing, as events unfolded.
We all started cleaning up the second floor. I pulled up paper. Carol did a lot of vacuuming. Then I put the second coat of primer on Jen's bathroom. Ken and Carol worked on plugs on the first floor. Then John went to buy lumber. Then I got sick (nothing serious, just recurrence of a middle ear infection that makes me feel extremely sea-sick). Then Carol drove me home. Then the Ed the Floor called and asked if they could come early because they'd had a cancellation. Then John, Ken and Carol went up again to the second floor to finish clearing. Then a very large truck from Home Depot turned up with four large containers to deliver. Turns out they must have been for someone else.* Then William came and helped John with the second floor clean-up. Then John and Gill were trying to track down the delivery of Rob's carpets from Turko-Persian. As put fingers to keyboard, John has gone to the House to accept delivery.
Ken said I should include a quotation from Samuel Beckett, because yesterday was his hundredth birthday--maybe. "My mistakes are my life." How It Is.
Cheers, Helen
