Where's a glacier when you need one?

Melting!

How are you doing? Roasting as well?

Oh my. Take care of yourselves.

Cool cloths help even in humidity--dampen them and apply them to face and neck, wrists and hollows of the elbows. So does wearing loose cotton clothing and keeping a spray bottle of water handy. If you have pets, make sure they have plenty of water, and sponge them off if they'll allow it.

This has been a message from a place where your temperatures are low-average for this time of year. (Hit over 40C week before last.)

at the clinic when it got really hot, R brought out a bucket filled with wet bandannas. they were a godsend.

Right now I am loving my office air conditioning. But I'll definitely keep all this in mind when I go home! Especially the spray bottle -- excellent plan. Thank you!

(My parents suggested that I could come up to the cottage for the night, and I still might... not that it's much cooler there, but at least there's a lake to jump into. And it FEELS cooler. None of that urban heat island effect.)

ooh! you should go! that sounds NICE!

and it's not like you'll get anything done on the house in this heat, anyway!

(HOW is Lady J surviving??)

I talked to her and John on the phone and she was trying to make out that it wasn't really that bad. *insert skepticism here* And Helen said they went to Bulk Barn in the morning, where there is air conditioning.

Inertia has triumphed; I'm staying in town, will go over to John and Helen's and watch TV and eat chicken.
