Lunch review
Aug. 2nd, 2006 01:46 pmPC Chinese Cashew Chicken
Stats: 365 g, 410 Calories, 10 g fat, 3 g fibre, 22 g protein, 1350 mg
sodium
Cooking: Microwave for 5-6 minutes.
First impression: Oooh, aaah, the rice and the sauce come in separate
compartments. (Oh yeah, that's why the rice is "on the side.") Holy extra
packaging, Batman! I see veggies, I see cashews... oh, there's a bit of
chicken. There's a slightly chemical smell to this one that I'm not
liking.
Taste: Salty, yet surprisingly bland. Plenty of veggies and plenty of
cashews, but this is nothing exciting.
Label amusements: The word "Chinese" is in a special "Chinese" font. And I
failed to use caution when removing it from the oven, contrary to
instructions, and have burnt my thumb. Woe. Best of all, though, is the
Chef's Tip: "For an authentic Chinese dining experience, spoon chicken and
sauce over rice."
Final verdict: I think I can do better. Or for a couple of dollars more I
can go across the street from this very office to get a much better
version and take half of it home with me. At least it's filling.
Will buy again: Probably not.
Fruit: Peaches.
Yogurt: No Name, fat-free, 1 peach, 1 cherry.

Date: 2006-08-02 06:17 pm (UTC)AMY'S! frozen organic pre-prepared stuff (shoppers carries them out here, and obviously any grocery store with a good natural foods section, or a health food store) is all pretty yummy! they have burritos and spanakopita and rice bowls and etc etc. Some vegetarian (not good for you, prolly) and some with meat. And some with/without dairy. anyway, possibly worth looking for.
