Busy weekend! I don't have laundry yet, but I have lights in all kinds of
places I didn't before. Also a wall shelf. Jen got a little shafted on the
whole progress thing by comparison, but she'll have a chance to catch up
while I'm out West.

Saturday, my aunt reported:

Today for lunch, Gill, Robin, Jen, John and I had a very late
breakfast of baked eggs, grilled tomatoes and bacon, and an orange
garnish.

Gill cleaned and moved drywall, and she and Robin went through boxes of
clothes looking for 'critters.' (As some people know, one of my dearest
acquaintances is an exterminator. You live in an open house, you got
critters. Small price to pay.)*

Jen moved stuff in the basement, installed two drawers, and put a lot of
doors on her bed, which, one more time, puts back her schedule to actually
be able to sleep in a real bed.

John installed** light and fan in third floor bathroom and is pondering
the mystery of the washing machine.***

Robin trimmed hedge and was "generally helpful," which all others agreed
was very helpful.

Cheers, Helen

Also Jen and John and I moved her wardrobe away from the wall and she
caulked the line where her bedroom connects to the rest of the house, to
thwart any critters that might be thinking about getting in.

*Just one contaminated box, fortunately, and very little damaged
clothing -- in fact the only real damage I've seen is to a couple of hats
and I think that was a separate rodent issue, not moths. We are putting
all the clothes in the freezer for two days, as apparently this kills any
eggs.
**Gave them power actually -- they were already installed. I got to take
the work light down! I can brush my teeth by the light of an actual
installed light! Am very excited.
***It has power, but the water isn't getting through. Nothing is ever
simple.

And Sunday:

Today for lunch, Robin, Jen, John and I had vinigered eggs,*
croissants and fresh pineapple.

John and Robin made Robin's kitchen lights all work and put up a shelf.
Also John achieved a three-dimensional base for a wardrobe somewhere. (Not
the one of doom.)**

Gill and Stuart worked on storage areas on the third floor and labelled
electrical circuits.*** (This is extremely handy.)

Jen tried to install a kitchen cupboard, which, one again, turns out to
not quite fit.****

Then many***** went off to Rona--again--to take care of the cabinet and a
list of many, many other things.****** A day without Rona is a day without
sunshine. Keeps them off the streets.

Cheers, Helen

My kitchen looks so awesome now. And I can see! Even at night! It doesn't
get much better than this.

*Sort of like devilled eggs but more interesting.
**The one in her bedroom. It MIGHT be the one of doom...
***Actually the labelling was Jen and John and me. But it is extremely
handy.
****It's 24" deep instead of 12" deep -- a bit baffling because the
shelves are the right depth...
*****Jen and me.
******Tinting the paint for my dining room and some of our trim; also
buying light bulbs, a ceramic drill bit, a boot for Jen's microwave vent,
a box of self-tapping screws, several tubes of clear silicone caulking, a
long metal strip with holes drilled in it to hang my second shelf off...
the list goes on. And on. You wouldn't want to go all the way to Kennedy
Commons for just ONE thing.
