Today, Dan is off helping Jetsin. Yesterday, he had a productive but frustrating time putting up storm windows. John has been exploring porch lights and basement wiring.
Cheers, Helen
November 2:
Today for lunch, John and I went to Gabby's.
John put up weatherstripping on the front door, and did more wiring the basement. (Between the wiring and the duct work, don't see how anyone with a normal shape is going to be able to navigate the basement.) William was there, thank God, finishing up the outside of Rob's storm windows. Dan was off flipergebeting (John has has given me 5 ways to spell this word).
Cheers, Helen
November 3:
Today for lunch, Rejane W, Dan, John and I had potatoes au gratin with ham and salad, and strawberries.
Dan worked on windows; John worked on wiring. William continued working on outside windows. (Their days seem to be acquiring a sameness.)
Love, Helen
November 6:
Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had boughten tortierre and green salad (with endives and avocado).
Dan worked on weather- and draft-proofing the outside basement windows. John worked on the base for Jen's living room cabinet.
I worked on Jen's curtains.
Cheers, Helen
November 7:
For lunch today, John had a ham and salami sandwich by his selfy.
John installed storm windows on Robin's second floor dining room window.
The energy efficiency inspector came. I let him in. He was most impressed with the quality of the renovation, and, in particular, the insulation. Said, "Beauty." as he toured the basement, which I did not think was quite the mot juste.
He gave John a list of 1/2 a dozen things that should still be done--none of them major. (One of them involves a Saskatoon loop in the air supply for the furnace. It's like like a trap in plumbing, as a damper. They're not allowed in the Saskatchewan countryside because of the wind factor.(Thought you'd want to know.)) He will process the grant application after Jen and Rob sign it. He says don't expect the money until early next year.
Cheers, Helen
November 9:
Today for lunch, John and I had submarine sandwiches.
John worked on the base for Jen's cabinet, and on the diverter in her bathroom. He's off to Rona to get stuff to attack Rob's second floor bathroom.
Cheers, Helen
November 10:
Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had corned beef sandwiches with cole slaw.
Dan did fill pieces for Jen's pantry cupboards and cut off the vent in the bedroom to stop it sticking up. John worked on Rob's bathroom. John is, once again, to Rona or, maybe, for an exciting change to Home Depot.
Cheers, Helen
November 14:
Today for lunch, Gill, Dan, John and I had udon noodle soup. With deference to Dan's friend Josh, the tempura garnish included fried parsley.
Dan is hanging Jen's bedroom door, and yesterday worked on cover plates in the pantry. John spent much more time than he thought it would take (life's like that) working on Rob's second floor bathroom. They picked up the van. They are off again.
Cheers, Helen
November 15:
Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had boughten lasagne and salad.
Dan has put the door on Rob's electrical closet. This afternoon: bathroom. Has caulking gun; will caulk.
John adjusted Jen's curtains, installed Rob's toilet seat (I find it's very uncomfortable to go to the bathroom when the seat is up or missing), and worked on sink.
Cheers, Helen
November 16:
Today for lunch, Calypso, Dave, Dan, John and I had a med (two short of three) of Mexican warm salads: lettuce and tomato with fried steak, and tostadas with chilli, melted cheese and salsa.
Dan has mounted strike plates on doors and went to Home Depot. John did coarse vacuum cleaning so that the divine Maria could do fine vacuuming. (Thanks, Gill.)
John and Dan adjusted Jen's carpet, and fished, successfully, for the cable for Jen's printer--which still doesn't work.
At lunch, Dan and John discussed the relative merits of string vs loop quantum theories. The excitement never stops.
Cheers, Helen
November 17:
Today for lunch, Jen, Dan, John and I had Swiss fondue, accompanied by three different kinds of pate, courtesy of Sonia's trip to Costco.
John resuscitated Jen's computer and completed wiring for Jen's printer, which now works. He hung metal rods in Jen's kitchen and Rob's ironing board.
Dan did work on the porch and assembled accoutrements for Rob's second floor bathroom.
Cheers, Helen
November 20:
For lunch today, Dan went to Gabby's, and John, Ken and I went to Nevada. (Was a miscommunication.) Then Ken went to Rona and John went to the local hardware. Just a day to break up the pattern.
Great housewarming party!! I shouldn't admit that I was stunned and amazed that it cleaned up so well. Of course, I didn't go into the basement. (Had no cloves of garlic with me.) The food was fabulous.
Today Dan rehung Jen's bedroom door, which took quite a lot of work.
John found and repaired a few nail holes on Rob's flat roof, and got most of the way through fixing up a potential rain trap over door to same. He also started on the top to Jen's china cabinet.
Cheers, Helen
November 21:
Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had bread, cheeses and pates (a repeat) with garnishes of tomato, cucumber, pickles, onion, and a savoury relish.

Dan is caulking and filling woodwork. Dan was really delighted to find that the two more shelves delivered were actually for the basement and is assembling so for access to tools.
John is working on Jen's counter plugs and cabinet.
Yesterday for lunch, we three had sausage penne (with zucchini, Sonia) and Dan caulked and filled.
Cheers, Helen

Cheers all, Helen

Dan continued caulking woodwork. I said he could come to our house but he remarked that maybe I didn't want him to live beyond 25. John worked on Jen's countertop.
Cheers, Helen
