Jan. 16th, 2007 09:52 amWatching CSI: Miami last night I turned to Jen and said "Is it me, or is this show making even less sense than usual?"
Even for something you watch because there's nothing else on, it's failing to impress. It's like the writers and editors and people get bored with the episode halfway through and start throwing random crap in to liven it up. They're certainly not aiming for either logic or subtlety. What was with those inset close-ups? Wasn't that woman awfully fortunate to just luck into a (faked, but still) armed robbery at the same party where she planned to shoot her husband's Death Pool longshot? Was the Very Special Message really supposed to be "Gambling: It Will Ruin Your Life! Counterfeiting is bad! Oh, and women can also be bad!"? I've almost given up objecting to the long slow-motion walks on the beach and the musical montages of random lab techniques and the lighting.
Do you think Horatio Caine is going to get skin cancer any time soon?
It's probably unfair to watch it right after The Closer, a show which makes actual sense. But still.
In other TV news, why did CBC rerun the premiere of Little Mosque on the Prairie?

Date: 2007-01-16 03:52 pm (UTC)Because they want lots and lots and lots of people to watch it and they're taking a page from the US network playbook. The one that says "if your show was reasonably successful and got lots of good press, pimp that bugger for every last iota of ratings points you can possibly squeeze out of it."

Date: 2007-01-16 04:19 pm (UTC)Their publicity/listings department (if they even have one these days) is NOT on the job. The listing for Doctor Who in the Globe didn't have an N on it yesterday either.

Date: 2007-01-16 04:43 pm (UTC)All I know is that on Tuesday, they said the regular timeslot would be Wednesdays at 8. The relation of that statement to reality is not mine to judge.
Anyway, all that is really important is whether or not you taped the express elevator to hell episode of Doctor Who.

Date: 2007-01-16 11:40 pm (UTC)I watch it because Jen watches it when it's around, and it is pretty-looking (OK, except for David Caruso, who is scary-looking), but it makes me go "...what?" way too often.
