I was in Detroit for ConFusion over the weekend, hence the radio silence.
(It was fun. One of these days I'll start talking to people, but I enjoyed
myself. I also cross-border shopped to an extent I really couldn't afford,
but I got some AWESOME clothes at Ann Taylor, so... what the hell.)

Work on the house, however, continued, as did my aunt's reports.

Friday:

For lunch today, John, Dan and I had toasted bagels: ham and
cheddar cheese, and smoked salmon and cream cheese, with assorted garnish.

Dan and John discussed woodwork, trim and moulding: Jen's book
shelves and their rigidity and the design thereof, and Rob's small cabinet
(watch the bevelled edge on the counter, Rob) and size of trim.

Dan did wood fill and caulking on the stairwell. Is pretty well finished
and can see if his hands heal.

John was in the basement doing something with flexible conduit.

Cheers, Helen
Monday:

Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had chilli and toast, with a
sour cream garnish. (Garnish??)

Today, Dan cleaned the basement, and worked on lintels and on
shelves at the top of the basement stairs.

John has finished putting in the pot lights in the basement.

Happy winter, Helen

I arrived back from Detroit shortly after that message went out. I wired
the ceiling fixture in my dining room and then lay down for what turned
into a four-hour nap. Sleep schedule is all gone to hell. I also managed
to forget that my phone was turned off and that therefore Basta's humans
(I'm dogsitting) had no way to get in touch with me. So they took her over
to John and Helen's instead. All is well, although Tilde's nose is
markedly out of joint.

Tuesday:

Today for lunch, Robin, Dan, John and I had goat and chicken
and potato rotis, and jerked chicken wings, with a brief nod in the
direction of vegetables. Courtesy of Cool Runnings, not me.

Dan and John went to Rona and Central Fairbanks to build a platform for
Jen's washer and dryer. Dan continued to work on trim.
Cheers, Helen

We also had some excitement at lunch when Basta decided to go walkabout,
but she came back. I mostly puttered yesterday; it was not a shiningly
productive day, but I got some laundry done and food put away and dishes
done and so on. And puzzles.

Back at work now. 5 voicemails, 52 emails (although once you take out the
subscriptions and the spam and the personal stuff it was only 11 emails --
not so bad).

When I came back to work after the Christmas/New Year break, I had 44 new emails - ALL of which were spam and other crap.

It was somewhat comforting, knowing that there weren't psycho people trying to register for conferences and wanting to complain to someone RIGHT THAT SECOND. (;
