Well well!

I'm getting all set up to watch the election results and do my accounts. I love watching elections. It's better if they're somewhere far off that I don't care about, but any election will do: I like seeing them fill in the ridings with various colours and the earnest commentary and statistical analysis. If anything thrilling happens, I may post an update.

Voted — went with the Liberal in the end for various reasons, not least of which being that they're the only party to bother sending me a flyer. And I do want them (of the three major parties) to get in. And he's the incumbent and he seems to have been doing a decent job so far. All that agony and here I am. The poll was at the Unitarian Universalist church down on de Maisonneuve; I was thinking about going to the gym afterwards but as usual once I was home, home I stuck. I've been nibbling almonds and Balderson's cheddar and apples since about 6 p.m. It's calcium... will cook something in a bit though.

(One of CBC's Average Voters from my riding says she went with the Bloc Pot, so someone else has been encouraging the little guys... she wants the PQ to get in so fair enough, no chance they'll make it here. She's giggling.)

(Was musing idly on the election process as I walked home — the thing that always stuns me most when I think of that whole George Bush/Florida election hoo-hah is the fact that the authorities in the problem riding designed their own ballots. Utterly bizarre. Up here we get one ballot design, the federal or provincial election authority runs things the same way in every poll and there's certainly none of that local-authority DIY-ballot nonsense, thank you very much. /gratuitous America-bashing) (Edited to add: except of course that now that I said that, I learn a whole bunch of ridings had polling problems this morning and had to stay open later this evening. Scandale a venir.)

And in other news, the new owners of my building have filed with the Regie to modify the lease, they want more money and a whole slew of new rules. I'm particularly taken with Rule #19, "The landlord may from time to time impose any new rules he/she deems necessary to properly manage the building".

Sure, guys.

From what I hear the Regie is backed up months if not years, and in the meantime I keep my old rent.

Anyway, sorry for the nattering. If anything thrilling shows up I'll let you know.
