Apr. 17th, 2003 12:39 amMissing the bus = sucky.
Running for the bus and catching it = triumphant.
Missing the bus, glancing over to see it at the next corner, running for it and still missing it — with the driver looking over at your panting form and giving a slow, severe shake of his head when you thump on the door = beyond infuriating.
Missing bus, chasing bus, seeing bus drive away from you despite pleadings, chasing the bloody thing, slowing to a walk as your lungs threaten to catch fire, sulking, seeing the bus stopped at University, willing the lights to turn before the bus leaves the stop, and finally succeeding in catching the damn thing = pretty darn cool.
In other news, I'm rich!
Well, I'm less in debt. Let's not go overboard. I just did my accounts for the first time in about 6 weeks (all the cash receipts are still sitting in a mocking pile, but I'll get to those) and discovered that (thanks to tax refunds — yay tax refunds! less than I feel I deserve, but significantly better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick) not only is my line of credit down to a halfway reasonable level for the first time in what feels like years, but I can actually pay all my bills on this paycheck. OK, doing so leaves me $50 to live on for the next two weeks, but it's a good feeling nonetheless. Also, I seem to have somehow managed to spend way, way less money than usual last month. I'm not quite sure what I did differently, or even if it's not just a financial artefact due to my mother deciding to pay for my train tickets home, but I'm taking the credit anyway. Go me.
And finally, I made pizza for dinner, and it was good.
My goal for next week is to keep my work under control and not let things get to the point where I feel I have to hide from them. Ideally, I should be able to take a day off if I feel like it without worrying that things are going to go to directly to hell. I'm not saying I'm going to, just that I should feel that I can.
