...and things that go bump in the night, good Lord, deliver us!
But not yet.
Went over to the hospital to pick up my Metropass and admire the decorations and costumes. I always love it over there on Halloween. The Family Resource Centre is done up as Hogwarts, as usual, and better than ever. I think I missed most of the trick-or-treating, but there was some; I kept running across an adorable small elephant.
Also picked up a flyer for the CALIPER Project, which is supposed to have a website of its own but apparently doesn't yet. Anyway, it may be of interest to Toronto-area parents. Basically it's a project to collect normal baseline values for various lab tests from healthy kids, so that sick kids' values can be compared to them rather than to standard adult values. (CALIPER is for "Canadian Laboratory Initiative on Pediatric Reference Range Database".) They're looking for kids from birth to age 18 to fill out a short questionnaire and donate a blood sample; participants will get $10, a small thank-you gift (teddy bear or book or T-shirt), and a chance to win a laptop. Let me know if you're interested!
