Dear Wisconsin: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?

A Wisconsin prosecutor is warning sex education teachers they could face charges if they follow a new state law that allows them to instruct students about proper contraceptive use.

A letter sent to five school districts by Juneau County District Attorney Scott Southworth said the instruction could amount to contributing to the delinquency of a minor if teachers know students are sexually active. He said the districts should drop sex education until the law is repealed.

Southworth also argued that teaching contraceptive use encourages sexual behaviour among children, which equates to sexual assault because minors can't legally have sex in Wisconsin.

Apparently! Although I should probably not blame the entire state, which does in fact seem to have passed a sensible law, regardless of how this one guy sees it. (Let's hope nobody puts him on the Supreme Court.)

I am quite sincerely trying to wrap my mind around the concept of "bring charges for following state law." I do not think "criminal charge" means what he thinks it does.

That is such epic fail that I can't even fathom it.

Kids are going to have sex regardless. Safe sex provides them the tools and knowledge to be safe, not promiscuous.
