Hello, Internets!

Guess what? I got a new computer. It was time. New laptop has the equivalent in RAM of one entire hard drive on my old computer (6 GB, barely enough to store the OS) and I love it. (I also hope that it will last a long, long time, because I HAAATE shopping for computers.) Jen mocks me ("It's like you've just discovered the wheel!") as I do things like use the Internet without dying of boredom and/or old age and rip an entire CD in under an hour. Truly it is miraculous. (Also, we are possibly the most boring housemates on earth as we sit on the couch in front of the TV with our laptops, doing our accounts.)

I am full of good intentions for the new year, starting with getting out of the office on time. So far so reasonably good. Backslid a bit today, although technically I was not IN my office but working offsite. (Project from hell has still not launched. Any day now! Honest! We are all sick to death of it.) I also want to actually post more -- I feel like a walking (OK, sitting) informational black hole, reading everything and giving back nothing. Yay new laptop for this reason.

Today's Science Tarot card was the Knight of Swords. Knights are always tricky, apparently, but I like this version because it's Mendeleev assembling the Periodic Table. (Have to admit I didn't really notice any influence, but it may have helped me not yell at people. Or maybe that was the working offsite. Who can say.)

Is that up at the cottage? Do you know I still tell people all about that whenever someone says 'Canada' and 'holiday' in the same sentence? :)

Grats on the new tech! My laptop's two years old this February and my shopping fingers are itching, ITCHING.

:D I'm glad it made an impression! No, that is actually Killarney Provincial Park (http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/kill.html). About 5 hours north of our cottage, and in fact quite close to Jen's mum's family's cottage near Sudbury. Very definitely Northern Ontario -- you get a little north of Barrie and there's the last farm and after that it's all rocks and lakes and pine trees (http://www.arrogantworms.com/music/rocks-and-trees-2/). Very gorgeous but very different!

I should probably post about that trip sooner or later, because it WAS wonderful even though my dumb dog got chomped.

Congratulations. And I quite agree about new computers and the shopping for. Meep. Just got a two year old Dell that is so much faster and better than my old laptop that I'm still astounded.
