Just so crankygrrl knows she's not the only one receiving silly letters... this is stolen from the Infamous Exploding Whale Page:

To Whom it may concern-

I saw your webpage URL in a magazine, and being disgusted by the title, decided to see exactly how bad it was. It was worse than I thought. This website is a disgrace to the entire Internet. There is no need for a web page depicting a whale being blown up. If you have nothing better to do with your time, then I suggest you get a hobby. In case you hadn't realized it, younger children are on the Internet. They shouldn't have to be exposed to full-color photographs of a whale carcass being blown up with half a ton of dynamite.

I, and many others, find your page very offensive. We would appreciate it greatly if you would remove it, and/or replace it with another page. Possibly one with pictures of living whales.

I mean, of course there's no need for need for a web page depicting a whale being blown up. That's the beauty of the Internet, though. It's full of things you don't need, but that are wonderful anyway. (I use the term advisedly.)

I think this person is a living mouth breathing example of why AoL's head-quarters should be blown up... the idea that the internet has some sort moral obligation to pander to these people makes me want to hit something with a big stick!

Main thing I was trying to say was that the person who was wanting the internet to be anything other than a huge porn collection was living in a dreamworld :)

It would be like admonishing your friend for breaking wind after you bought him lunch at Taco Bell... you can feel free to do it, but don't expect anything other than a slap up the side of the head :)
