is that when things go wrong, it's very hard to fix them.
Case in point: I have a DVD drive. And DVD decoder software. HOWEVER, the fact that this machine was upgraded to Win2K (not by me) appears to have frelled up said software royally. (Specifically, it asks me to choose a region, then claims the DVD won't play in Region 1 -- and whose bright idea was this whole region thing anyway?) Software manufacturer says it's up to computer manufacturer to provide upgraded software, should they choose to do so. (Software manufacturer does offer a patch for WinXP, but this doesn't do me a whole hell of a lot of good.)
Yeah, so picture me emailing Sony and saying "Hi. I have a second-hand computer of yours that somebody messed around with, can you send me the upgrade for DVD Express? Right away?"
Yeah, that's gonna happen.

For instance, Cube 2: Hypercube, is on DVD rental racks in Toronto (straight to rental, I think) but when I was in Paris a few weeks ago, Cube 2 was just getting a big release in theatres. THey don't want Frenchies to be buying DVDs on Amazon of movies that are only getting released to theatres over there.

What are you using, anyway? I might be able to help a bit - got mine working. Though the sequence was:
So, ya know, I may not be much help!
