So in the Great Quest for Personal Growth, a Positive Attitude, and Leaving Work at a Reasonable Hour, I've started a logbook in which to track:
- time I get up
- time I leave the apartment
- time I get in to work
- whether or not I've made a plan for the day
- whether or not I brought lunch to work and where I eat it
- time I stop working
- time I leave the office
- praiseworthy accomplishments for the day
- things to improve for tomorrow

We'll see how this goes, but I think it will be good for me.

Gym last night, then faced reality and bought a stack of frozen entrees. Just because I'm not cooking at the moment doesn't mean I have to buy ALL my meals.

That's great. But do you have it on a PDA?

Which is my early-morning, pre-big-phone call (see journal) way of saying what an EXCELLENT plan, and what a great addition to everything we discussed last night. yay you!

Yeah, I faced that (lunch) reality lately too. Which makes my husband and I both happier, because I have a lunch backup.

that sounds like a good plan! when i moved out of the house, i got myself a big agenda and everyday i would write how much i spent and what i spent it on, what i had for lunch, what i did that day, etc, etc... i'm a little behind right now (by a few days only) but i'm going to try to catch up .. eventually! (ack! realizing how much socializing will be happening this weekend right after the socializing of the week...!!)

I haven't grocery shopped in maybe two weeks now. =S

That's not GEEKY.

That's just anal retentive.

Maybe so, but I think I'd rather be anal-retentive than a gibbering workaholic, which is where I seem to be headed...

You are NOT a gibbering workaholic...yet. (Don't stay at work so late, that may help.) But I do think trying to keep a journal with all the above might be a touch depressing? panic-inducing? I think you are doing fine - see previous journal entry where you managed to do a million things after work. I am STILL impressed.

Well, see, I think the point is to help her get out of work earlier more consistently. The journal is her way of trying to implement some things we discussed last night so that she won't turn into a gibbering workaholic. Leaving work earlier is definitely a theme.

I see. That's definitely a good place to start.

Well, I am not that bad, but I DO have a pocket-sized personal agenda thingy where I write down things that I do every day and what time I wake up and go to sleep. I try to put as much detail as I can but sometimes I get behind so I only remember the big things (if that, but generally pretty good... or then something comes back to me and I have the "hmm, what day did that happen on...??")
