I thought I'd round out my Roman Britain fiction experience with some Rosemary Sutcliff, so I'm reading The Lantern Bearers (not that edition, which is ugly -- mine is part of an omnibus edition that I bought before Christmas at the used bookstore up on Kingston Road next to the International Chop Suey, but haven't had time to read yet < /mountain of irrelevant detail > ).

I used to love her stuff when I was nine and reading my way through the school library, and I'm happy to say it's held up well.

I'm reading cover letters and CVs.

Some of them are impressive. Some are... not.

I was going to post some friends-locked excerpts, but confidentiality paranoia stopped me. Sorry. You'll just have to use your imaginations. I just hope that the recent grad gets someone older and wiser to read over the next cover letter they send out, because... oh, honey. That is not the way to win friends and get jobs.
