House update: Friday
Dec. 16th, 2005 03:19 pmWe have a new guest star... everyone please give a big hand to Ron the Duct! My aunt reports:
Today for lunch we had chilli, with toast and tostitos.
Dan and Dave worked on the aforementioned bay window, shaving insulation and furring.
John spoke with Ron the Duct, who apologized for delay, likes the plan, will come on Tuesday and hopes to do the work between Christmas and New Year's. John will spray paint where the ducts should go.
Dan and David put up lights on our garden Christmas tree. Your dime, guys, but it didn't take long and I figured if we had to have John on a ladder leaning on the garage, the garage might fall over on its face.
Cheers all, Helen
This is so awesome: Math class proves Smarties fun fact isn't true
A Grade 6 math class in Thunder Bay has debunked the claim that Canadians eat enough Smarties each year to circle the earth 350 times.
(I had to check the math, but it all makes sense now.)

Best quote:
To make the company's claim true, each Smartie would have to be bigger.
"Three and a half metres," says student Kaylie Rankin. "It's about the size of our chalkboard. I don't know if I'd be able to eat it."
bad thing about not checking Hotmail #2:

This week's words of wisdom:
Unfortunately I have more need for those words of wisdom than I'd like to think.
This week's words of wisdom:
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): This is prime time for you to burn away delusions that cripple your ability to act with maximum freedom. There are two particular misconceptions that you have special power to eradicate. The first is the belief that you can help someone else by diminishing yourself. The second is the notion that you can somehow benefit from the losses of other people. The truth in both cases is exactly the opposite: If you really want to contribute to anyone's well-being, you have to do it in such a way that you, too, thrive. And vice versa. To which I can only say, Hmmm.
Unfortunately I have more need for those words of wisdom than I'd like to think.
That sick, guilty, I've-let-people-down feeling you get after you procrastinate? I have it now. I'm tired of it. Not just now, forever.
The problem is, I have such a hard time remembering what it feels like when I'm in the throes of the sick, anxious, oh-my-god-I-don't-want-to-deal-with-this-now feelings that lead me to procrastinate in the first place.
I never did follow up on counselling. Maybe now is the time.
Ugh.
