I have to admit, this was kinda funny.

I feel a little bad for snickering, but I remind myself that (1) it was Cranky's very own idea* to go into Come As You Are and (2) at least I didn't compound her embarrassment by asking for info on my own behalf, partly because (3) she had blenched a few days previously when I enthusiastically suggested that I might.

Really, though, it's kind of pitiful that I'm 31 and single and don't own one sex toy of any variety.

*Selective memory strikes. Cranky reminds me that we passed it and I said "Hey, didn't you want to go in there?" and gently hustled her inside ("Aw, c'mon!") when she said "NO NO NO I CHANGED MY MIND ACK SEX TOYS NOOO!" But what are friends for if not to push your boundaries occasionally?

Don't feel bad. You see, the way it works is that there is a certain number of sex toys that each family should own. In your case, your dear cousin Mike has more than done his part to meet this measure by filled up an entire bag with such paraphernalia, thus rendering YOU not responsible for meeting the familial sex toy quota. Now, if you want to contribute to the total you are more than welcome to, but it is not a problem that you have not done so until now.

Heh, well then I guess it's a good thing that I didn't describe in detail the time that he procured said bag and proceeded to show me a bunch of restraints and then slowly removed a very long dildo-type-thing out of it (I believe the main motivation being to make me blush).. ;P

And then I sneaked a peek at your user info and saw that not only do we share some friends (do you know ipanicked in person? 'cause that would just be freaky...), but also a fair number of interests. Heh. Okay, I'm slightly less freaked now ;) I've been friends with him for, erm, eight years or something now. He sang at my wedding. I was sitting here wondering if I might actually have met you at some point and just not known it.

How long have you been in Toronto? It's been a year and a half since forthright and I moved from Montreal, which is still hard to believe.

I grew up in Toronto (mostly) and most of my family lives here, but I went to McGill and then spent 6 years working in Montreal. I've been back since August (the time, it does fly!).

re ipanicked: that WOULD have been weird. I do know emjayne in person (although we met through LJ).

Ah, I went to McGill for my undergrad, then hung around and got an MA at Concordia, and then hung around and worked a bit more, until forthright finished up his PhD and we could finally move. I loved many things about the city, but I find that I like Toronto much more - though that's probably largely a side-effect of having a nicer apartment in a nicer neighbourhood with better jobs for both of us here. If I could just import my friends from Montreal, it'd be perfect :)

I only encountered emjayne on LJ after I moved away from Montreal, so I've never had the chance to meet her, unfortunately.
