[livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl, if you're reading this, your apartment is still there. Now get off the web. Especially don't check any Canadian news sites because they will annoy you. And stop reading this post. You're on vacation.

No-confidence motion introduced, election one step closer.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. EST, Mr. Harper rose in the House of Commons.

The sparsely worded motion replaced an earlier one in which the Conservatives borrowed heavily from comments in Justice John Gomery's report on the sponsorship scandal to accuse the Liberals of enjoying a “culture of entitlement” and being responsible for a gross abuse of public funds.

“The opposition parties in this Parliament did our utmost to make it work,” Mr. Harper said of efforts to keep the House of Commons going.
What a comedian! Ah well. It should be fun, whatever happens.

Elsewhere in the national psyche (OK, some of this is yesterday's news, but anyway)...

Urban aboriginals want more say.

Bob Rae will lead a new Air-India inquiry.

And the Grey Cup is coming!

Oh, Harper. Is that really the image you want to give your party? Lowering voters' expectations already?

Indeed. It's not that I want the Conservatives to form a government or anything, but a little less foot-in-mouth syndrome and some indication of credibility or, you know, sense would be welcome.

I am seriously considering hiding my head under a rock. Cuz you KNOW where Mr. Martin and all the premiers are....

*sigh* Avoiding downtown like the plague. Traffic will be AWFUL.

And Harper, well, your utmost is just about what I expected....

I'm all for them meeting SOMEWHERE, but it's hard on the inhabitants.
