Tentpegging. I had vaguely heard of it before, but this guy sounds really cool [that's a Real Audio link, so no promises, but the delightful Scottish accent certainly doesn't hurt]. Especially liked the line "I'll have to make up for my deficit of skill with a surplus of reckless abandon."

Also, Spices Cafe on Temperance sounds amazing. (The review isn't up yet. C'mon, CBC, get your act together!) (Ah, here it is.)

Also, this doesn't really count as part of this post because I heard it yesterday, but I am following the odyssey of Dorothy the skunk with interest.

Reading the title made me think that Anne McCaffery had gone off her medication again.

Ms. McCaffery has a theory that people can be turned homosexual by rape, such as the case of an acquaintance of hers who turned gay after being molested with camping equipment.

It's all very disturbing and makes Dolphins of Pern a creepier read.

Ewwwwww.

Yeah. No. Nothing to do with that. Thank goodness.

I've never read Dolphins of Pern -- must have arrived after I stopped reading her. (Anything post-Nerilka's Story I probably haven't read.)

Eugh.

Of all the things that concern me about camping, I never realized that I needed to be concered about the equipment.

Also, Anne McCaffrey has lost her ever-loving mind. So. Sad.

And ditto to Ell's comment about post-NS AMcC.

ya know, I just kind of think to myself "dangerous!" and "poor horses!" and "polo with Swords!" and "POOR HORSES" -- cuz lack of skill made up for by reckless abandon may work for HIM, but not so much for his long-suffering mount.

But I am increasingly curmudgeonly, soooo....

Healthy dose of self-deprecation there -- I don't think we can necessarily assume that he is therefore unskilled! But I take your point.

I don't know the street name, but is that downtown between King and Queen, just west of Yonge?

Because if so, I have eaten there a few times, and it is very tasty.

I went there most recently after getting a cavity filled... the guy working there was really helpful, he put together a really balanced but easy to chew meal for me :-) He also said something that gave me the impression that they cook with very little oil compared to a lot of local Indian restaurants?

When the review is up at CBC, please share the link!

I think that's right -- Catherine Jheon said the same thing, and that they cook with yogurt instead of sour cream, don't use artificial colourings, etc.

I'll definitely post the review!

Hm. Here's a review on her blog (http://www.foodtv.ca/blog/archive/2007/02/08/what-is-your-favourite-ethnic-cuisine-or-dish.aspx) to keep us going.

I was listening to this same review this morning, and was thinking 'Hey, I wonder if Chrissy'd be interested in going there!"

You get out more than I do, obviously. ;)

True.

I did not get there for lunch today. I've decided since we're not convening this evening, that I'm going to be bad and order in Indian.
