House update: Thursday

My aunt reports:

Today for lunch, Dan, John and I had salade compose" beef,
chicken, eggs, etc.

Dan is still working on shelving, and bought stuff at Central
Fairbank, which seems to be a very good store.

!! Jen passed her course on Canadian taxation, which she says is due to
the Bell curve, but I say is by way of brains by osmosis. (A valued
colleague/friend writes the CCH books on Canadian tax.)

There won't be many more of these --
Helen figures once Dan stops working on the house, which is any day now,
we'll know everything anyway.

Also, Basta's people are home, so she is going home too. I'll miss her! I
expect Tilde will be happy though -- no more need to share treats and
snuggles. On the other hand, she'll have to take on the whole
barking-at-the-door load herself. (I was hoping Basta would train Tilde
out of that habit, but it seems to have worked in reverse. Oh dear.)

well clearly Basta's departure means that OPERATION PUPPY! should resume!! :)

also, I LOVE salad compose".... Except my French host families always made it with a can of tuna and a can of corn, and rice, and veggies (tomatoes, fresh, of course, and then whatever else is on hand and yummy) and lettuce (romaine or leaf) and tossed in a basic red-wine vinagrette made in the bottom of the bowl. It is STILL one of my favorite things to make for dinner in the summer.

Have to say, the dogsitting has brought home the reality of having a dog -- it's been lovely, but I do need to have a much more regular schedule if I'm going to become a forever dog owner!

that is, indeed, an Issue. But you would have Help, would you not? (ie, co-house-owner, Friend-cranky, aunt/uncles in close proximity, and dog-free Parental Unit in town).

I guess it's all about choices ;).
