"Yummy Mummy" (thanks, Globe and Mail Style section, you never let me down).

You can use it adjectivally too! As in "Starbucks was full of thirtysomethings with strollers, dressed in yummy-mummy Juicy Couture tracksuits, sipping non-fat decaf lattes and checking their Palm Pilots."

Other suggestions are welcome. Most noxious sentence wins a round of applause.

(Consider this a very late response to [livejournal.com profile] oblomova's "quirkyalone" rant, which was much better than this.)

Right, I'm off to be social now.

I hear ya!

Juicy Couture is the biggest emperor-has-no-clothes fashion victim rip-off ever foisted on to women. Argh! (and no apologies to anyone who was silly enough to buy a Juicy tracksuit!)

Hey, no arguments here. But then I am the anti-fashion-victim.

Is that anything like a MILF?

Yummy mummies have little kids whereas MILFs have teenagers.

Well, I'm glad that was straightened out.

Good God, these will likely be in the OED someday, won't they?

What is a MILF, anyway? I can't wrap my head around the acronym.

I was completely squicked by that very same term, just today, when I heard it for the first time. Driving back from the riding clinic (more on which later), I was listening to Talking Books on CBC, and they were discussing a rather inane sounding novel called Little Children. They used the term "yummy mummy" and I went *EWWW!* what the hell kind of term is that? Now I begin to understand that this is one of those annoying terms that is gaining in currency and which will now haunt me.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

If we're really lucky, though, it may mean that "fashionista" is on its way out.

One can only hope.

Scream! Bad. So bad. G&M's style section depresses me once weekly, mostly because of Leah McLaren and the migration of Toronto hotspots from "maybe accessible" to "never without a car".

Leah McLaren is reliably infuriating (did you catch her city-dwellers-have-arrested-development bit this Saturday? I was yelling "No, Leah, it's just you and the twits you hang around with!"). If you look at it a different way, though, at least they're doing us a favour by keeping all the ickiness in one section.

I thought it was one of her better efforts, very rare, but it was spoiled by the fact that she sounded jealous of her friend, almost like the grass is always greener on the other side.

Now...Josey Vogels is infuriating!! She is worse than Leah McLaren, if that is possible. All of her stupid Rules!! Does she really think anyone is paying attention?

To be fair, I only skimmed the first 3 paragraphs of the article. It was the arrested-development thing that aggravated me.

I like Josey Vogels, but I can't say as I read the particular article you're referring to. Her columns are always fun and she usually gives good (from my perspective on the sidelines, anyway) advice, IMO.

Yeah, I do acknowledge that. I have to say that I jumped off the L.M. boat with Functional Alcoholism, because, frankly, if she has that much time and money and can afford to call Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal "B" cities, she can just rot.

:cheers on Heather Mallick:
(who can be semi-reliably caught in the Beaches BookCity, too. Hurrah!)
